what's up everyone? Hope everyone's new year is off to a good start. Im just wondering if anyone knows of any good auto-tune plug ins we can buy that work well with studio one. I have artist 3.3. I saw melodyne but I think that is a little pricey, anyone have suggestions?

Melodyne doesn't do auto-tune. It does do pitch-correction but not live.
One of the cheapest plugins that does auto-tune that I know of is Izotope's Nectar Elements. If you do a lot of work with vocals, I'd recommend getting the full Nectar 2 Suite as it gives you more control as well as a lot more functions, options, and effects.

Waves Tune is a great Melodyne alternative, and is very affordable, especially when on sale by itself or part of the Vocal Bundle. I actually prefer the interface to Melodyne's. It's similar where I want it to be and different where I want it to be. For the old set it and forget it kind of tuning, Waves Tune Real-Time does this. You set your scale, standard or custom set of notes, and then set how quickly you want the correction to be done, along with a bunch of other settings. I personally don't usually use this type of tool, but it's very good at what it's intended for.

 No dedicated plugin like that in S1 (at least not yet). But you might want to look at something like Izotope Nectar or similar.

 KeroVee is a free alternative much better if you want to go creative with the formant shifter, Gsnap is other free one, both are 32bits only .

 Probably wont be the best experience. Plugs like that are resource intensive. Melodyne gets cranky at low buffer settings, as I am sure most do. Melodyne recommends a buffer of at least 1024. It works lower but can get choppy with higher track counts.

 That's what I thought. I had a recent inquiry from a client who thought it'd be the cat's ass to have that running for live gigs. Someone told him all the BIG acts have it in their tech riders these days. He doesn't realize those guys have the budget to make that happen. I'm not buying an $80k console so I can run real time auto tune at a club gig!

 Running it on soundgrid is a LITTLE different than a laptop. 
 Sigh..what ever happened to vocal lessons?

 if you get creative with your editing, you can roughly (and i do mean ROUGHLY) auto tune a track after recording. using the slice tool, just separate where each note changes in the melody and use the tune function when you right click on the event. i wouldnt expect stellar results. although this method has worked well for me if say a single note in a perfect take on a guitar solo was wrong. little things can be tweaked and sound ok. ive never tried an entire vocal track in this manner. just some food for thought.

 I've tried an entire track for a VERY large file(Vocal track, 1 entire live set).. I had to shut down my machine. I know it can be done both in the studio and live, but.. it requires TONS of processing.
